Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced problems to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in providing protection systems and applying sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets struck energy facilities, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.
